About

The story behind the Challenge Cup Air Rally.

Our story

The Challenge Cup is hosted by Gympie Aero Club. This is the inaugural event and expectations are high for skilful displays and fun for both the pilots, co-pilots and spectators — both at Gympie and Maryborough airfields.

The Challenge Cup is designed to test pilots on the vital skills required to be exceptional. It also provides a forum to test those skills in a real and fun environment.

Organised by

Gympie Aero Club — The Gympie Aero Club Inc was established in 1966 at Gympie Airfield, Kybong, Queensland. The aero club is a not-for-profit and provides a key community hub for all aviation enthusiasts, training many pilots and providing a forum for experienced aviators. The airfield today provides emergency services including rural firefighting, medical evacuation, aviation maintenance services, as well as flight training.

This inaugural Challenge Cup Air Rally runs 7 March 2027.
